PAWS4LAUGHTER

Animal Rescue and other wonderful furry things and thoughts

I’ve always donated to animal causes. But mostly I loved doing shows that helped them. PAWS4LAUGHTER is something I’m hoping will help those that help the fur babies. I want to do comedy shows to raise money and awareness for shelters and rescues. So many of these places and the people that run them can only do so with the help of generous wonderful people who support them. This is a work in progress, especially in these locked down times. The good news is, many many pets were rescued during this pandemic. And hopefully these are permanent homes! Please check back and check the calendar often. We will get this back off the ground!! If any comics have any ideas, would like to do a show, know a shelter in need or just want to put your name on a list for future shows, please contact me anytime!! I will gladly use you!!?

THINGS YOU CAN DO
To anyone who has loved a furball, adopted, rescued, or just wants to help animals, I am dedicating a page on my site to all the people that help our furry friends. I am involved with quite a few rescues that do different things, all of which help the furbabies. We can’t save them all but we can do what we can do.

CROSS POST
Some do cross posting, which means sending out emails to our wonderful friends and relatives that will then pass them on to someone who will in turn pass it on to their “lists”. It’s like the old shampoo commercial. If you tell 2 people who tell 2 people who tell 2 more and so on and so on and so on….. someone somewhere will rescue one of the thousands of homeless animals. It’s frustrating, time consuming, and sometimes your friends say stop sending these to me, it’s depressing and overwhelming. Yes, it is, but someone has to do it, and you have to pass it on, then let go, and let god as some would say.

HANDS ON IN THE SHELTERS

Some do nonprofit work, and go into shelters and pull (save) whatever animals they can at their own expense and time and try to find temporary shelter for them. Some of these dedicated peeps will take a disabled or dysfunctional dog and help bring them back to a healthy place and teach them to know what love and human touch is again. Such heartache. I remember looking in the kennels to adopt a dog, and sobbed my way out, wanting to take everyone of them out of there. Knowing the ones who don’t get out will probably be put to sleep. So God Bless the ones that take these poor animals in until they can find happy permanent homes.

(Thousands are killed everyday, some more humanely than others, but that’s another story. There are terrible ways for these guys to go, heartstick, gas chambers, etc. and kinder ways by injection, but no matter what, they lose their lives.)

FOSTER

Some people ARE that temporary shelter, these are foster parents that kindly take in animals for whatever length of time they need until a permanent home is found. This is unbelievable and heart wrenching to me, once I bond I don’t know how you let go, but for the sake of the animals they do it all the time. They are a needed blessing in the rescue circle.

TRANSPORT

Some are transporters. These are volunteers who drive to help get dogs from one place to another. I will list some of these wonderful organizations below. What usually happens is, a route is established, (I was doing south to the north) Virginia, the Carolinas, etc get the animals out of the kill shelters and up to New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maine or wherever into safe rescue. Some of these are just everyday people driving their cars, some are people flying planes, or driving trucks up the interstate.(All are screened and approved.)

BAHAMA MAMA OF ALL THE ANIMALS CHELLA PHILLIPS

There are so many wonderful organizations and no kill shelters, but I would like to just add a few links to my personal favorite. If you would like to help or get involved in anyway, please, again, feel free to contact me .

The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau https://pawtcakerefuge.org/ run by my friend Chella Phillips. https://www.facebook.com/PawtCakeRefuge/ https://www.instagram.com/voicelessdogsofnassaubahamas/?hl=en

This awesome refuge is run by one of the most amazing people I know. She has a place she built with the help of her brother. It was her home. Till she started saving all the homeless, abandoned, abused dogs she found on the streets. She takes care of 100 dogs or more at any given time. And has done this alone for years. And now, thank god, she has a few wonderful volunteers that help. But she survives on donations, fundraisers, and planes and boats that help bring a lot of the healed and rehabilitated pups to the states for adoption. The food and vet bills alone are humongous! You many have seen the story on CNN when a hurricane hit the Bahamas

https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/03/weather/hurricane-dorian-woman-shelters-97-dogs-nassau-wxc-trnd/index.html

Please visit her site and consider donating a few dollars, or sending some of the things she has on her wish lists. Or adopting one of her beautiful dogs. She is honest, she is ferocious in her protection and healing of these babies, she has a heart bigger than any other I know. I don’t how she handles the heartbreak and sadness she sees everyday. She never leaves a furbaby on those streets! She is caring and devoted. She is selfless, and will feed those furkids before she feeds herself. She works tirelessly round the clock and I am honored to know her.

I will be doing a show to help raise money for her, so stay tuned for details. This pandemic has put a halt on so many things!

My new site www.paws4laughter.com is coming soon. There is a facebook page I’m building too, www.facebook.com/Paws4laughter

Some wonderful quotes …. Definitely worth remembering!!

“I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man.” “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged on the way its animals are treated.” Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)

“It’s not only what we do, but what we fail to do, for which we are accountable.” Moliere (1622-1673)

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968)

Thanks….
